PNE 'Hangover' Prints By Justin Hampton, Emek + Jermaine Rogers Release Details

    'The Hangover' set:

The 3 prints measure 30 x 20 inches and are available in a limited edition of only 100 signed and numbered sets. There is also a very limited edition of only 25 variant sets printed on holographic foil stock.

'The Hangover' poster set will be released next week!!!

Ok, for a while we've been hinting at something big in the works for PNE, and a bit different from what we've released in the past. Well, we weren't kidding. We're finally happy to unveil the mystery and come clean. A short while ago Justin Hampton of PNE was contacted by movie director Todd Phillips. He explained that he wanted to do something special for the cast and crew of his movie 'The Hangover,' as it had become the highest grossing comedy of all time. A great rapport developed and Phillips commissioned PNE for a special project. Todd asked Hampton to oversee the art direction of his vision with PNE. He wanted Justin, Emek and Jermaine to create a set of commemorative rock-art style prints that embraced the no-holds-barred and reckless abandon of his hit film. "Make the posters...just wrong" he said. With this inspiration, the trifecta set out to do just that. After months in development the project is now finished and the set of 3 prints is complete, each showcasing a different slant on the film. Recently, Justin flew to Los Angeles and met with Todd at his editing studio in Malibu to finalize the project and deliver the prints in person. Todd and everyone at the production company were instantly in love with the set. The prints are now all on their way to the homes of all of the cast and crew. In a special arrangement with Todd, he has agreed to let PNE release a limited number of 'The Hangover' print sets to the poster collecting community. This set of 3 screen printed posters will be released next week.  Justin Hampton's print focuses in on everyone's favorite little baby from the film; Carlos- the unofficial 'fifth member' of the 'Hangover' bachelor crew. And yes, his stripper-mother (portrayed by the lovely Heather Graham) also makes an appearance in this print. Todd Phillips said "This poster is hilarious!... Amazing colors!" Emek's vision encompassed the totality of the film: he adds a highly detailed collage of images from the film, anchored by the sun-glassed 'Alan', portrayed by Zach Galifianakis. Everything from major stars to tiny details is pictured in this print: can you find all the references? Todd said about this print what most folks say about an Emek print: "Look at the detail!" Jermaine Rogers' poster focuses on one of the most memorable moments of the film: the Mike Tyson scene. Jermaine depicts Tyson under the spell of Phil Collins, whose visage hovers 'Big Brother' like, in the darkness. Tyson raises his cigarette lighter in creepy homage. This print also glows in the dark! Todd Phillips remarked, "Tyson is gonna LOVE this!" Again, a limited amount of these sets are being released to the public. PNE enjoyed working with Todd Phillips on this project, and certainly have laid the groundwork to do similar projects in this arena in the future. 'The Hangover' poster set will be released next week.

75+ Banksy Photos Of His Awesome Outdoor Pieces

    Washing

“Ignorance can be costly in the Banksy exploitation business. It was reported that “bungling workmen painted over a mural by famed street artist Banksy worth £100,000″. Last week, 60-year-old Sam Khan, purveyor of luggage and football scarves to the denizens of Tottenham Court Road, London, was inconsolable after flogging a Banksy that had been painted on his stall for £1,000 and discovering that it could be worth £500,000. Poor love.”

Banksy’s real name is NOT, as is commonly believed and has been widely reported, Robert or Robin Banks. In July 2008, it was claimed by The Mail that Banksy’s real name is Robin Gunningham

    Banksy’s New Orleans Tour

Banksy’s recent journey to America included a trip to New Orleans to decorate some of the buildings affected by Hurricane Katrina. On his website, Banksy talks about his first impressions of Nola: “I looked out the window of the taxi on the drive into New Orleans and remarked ‘There’s still so much devastation – I can’t believe they haven’t cleaned this mess up.’ To which the driver stared at me and said ‘This part of wasn’t affected by the hurricane – it’s always looked like this.’”

    Banksy in Palestine

“How illegal is it to vandalize a wall,” asks Banksy in his website introduction to his Wall project, “if the wall itself has been deemed unlawful by the International Court of Justice? The Israeli government is building a wall surrounding the occupied Palestinian territories. It stands three times the height of the Berlin wall and will eventually run for over 700km – the distance from London to Zurich.

The “guerrilla artist” Banksy has helped to transform the security barrier that surrounds the town with more than a dozen satirical images painted, plastered and sprayed on to the 8m-high (26ft) concrete. The work winds a trail to the heart of the city at Manger Square, where more than a dozen pieces are housed directly across from the Church of the Nativity. More info on the Wall project, here. Wach video here.

    Girl and a Soldier

Located on the side of a building in Bethlehem, Occupied West Bank. The piece is located on one of the main roads, leading out towards the Bethlehem checkpoint to Jerusalem. It is drawn on the side of a building, not on the Wall itself, largely for security reasons. The soldiers do not take kindly to professional entities spending a lot of time at one place on the Wall. Such people are generally arrested for terrorist activity and accused of trying to destroy, blow up, or weaken the structure.

“This wall marks the spot where over 40 people were killed during the first Intafada (the little holes along the top are from bullets). While Banksy was painting it a lot of people came over, some to shake his hand and others telling him to go away. Eventually the local MP was called out to diffuse the eighty-strong crowd that had built up (by which time Banksy had left and the piece was completed by the local kids). “

    Take This Society

    Wider view

In February, 2008 a stencilled graffiti work appeared on Thames Water tower in the middle of the Holland Park roundabout, and it was widely attributed to Banksy. It was of a child painting the tag “Take this Society” in bright orange. London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham spokesman, Councillor Greg Smith branded the art as vandalism, and ordered its immediate removal, which was carried out by H&F council workmen within three days

    One Nation Under CCTV

The Westminster City Council stated in October 2008 that the work “One Nation Under CCTV”, painted in April 2008 will be painted over as it is graffiti. The council says it will remove any graffiti, regardless of the reputation of its creator, and specifically stated that Banksy has no more right to paint graffiti than a child. The work was painted over in April 2009.

Alexandros Vasmoulikas 'Is Everybody Happy?' Show March 20th

Alexandros Vasmoulakis :: 'Is Everybody Happy?'

AWESOME, One of my top 5 artists is coming to town... LeBasse Projects is excited to present, 'Is Everybody Happy?' the first U.S. solo exhibition from Greek artist Alexandros Vasmoulakis. In this anticipated solo project, Vasmoulakis brings his first major body of work to the US after becoming recognized across Europe for his work both on the streets and in galleries.

Vasmoulakis is mostly known by his work in the streets of Athens, Greece as he has painted on and embellished various buildings across the city and is expected to do the same here in Los Angeles. While recognized for his street work, Vasmoulakis' paintings are beginning to reflect the maturity of his work as an artist. His works' main theme is the psychology of his figures - the struggle and the element of conflict dominates in the pairs of his figures as well as in each character separately. With the perceptive analysis of his characters Vasmoulakis achieves through his work he persuades us that he has penetrated into their mentality by holding a role of a competent and gifted anatomist and of an expressive soul searcher.

'Is Everybody Happy?' will be Alexandros Vasmoulakis' first U.S. solo exhibition.
