Awesome Black Rat Press Street Art Bike Tour
Here is a fantastic idea for a fun afternoon on your bicycle. Black Rat Projects is excited to invite you to join artist, designer and good friend of the gallery Pamela Parker of Undercurrent Design on an experimental audio tour of East London's urban spaces guided by the voices of artists who use the walls of the city as a canvas.
Since the beginning of the year Pamela has been researching the area and collating interviews with some of the most prominent artists working on the street today. Participants of the "Writings on the Wall"
project will traverse the empty streets of a city just waking up and listen to audios of the artists as they talk about their own work and the urban environments, spaces and places that inspire them. Places are available on Saturday 9th, Sunday 10th and Sunday 24th April. Cyclers will meet from 5.30 am in Shoreditch (TBA). If you are interested please RSVP by the 6th April with your preferred date to becca@blackratpress.com
You'll be given a password to access instructions + tracks a day ahead of the event, but don't listen to these before you've arrived – it'll spoil the surprise. Here is the info from undercurrent design: Writing's on the Wall: A Journey Through Street Art in London's Changing East End (part of the Story Lines on Cycle Lanes Project) You are invited to take part in Writing's on the Wall: An audio and visual journey by bicycle exploring the changing face of London's East End from Shoreditch to Hackney Wick. Hear about the work in the artists' own voices, while exploring the back lanes and vacant lots of a city in flux. The tour is FREE, it takes approximately two hours, depending on your pace and includes a sunrise ride along the canal.
