Banksy 'Ghetto For Life' Graffiti Found In New York City
Monday, October 21, 2013
This piece is called 'Ghetto For Life' and it was found at E 153rd St and Elton Ave in the South Bronx. This is not necessarily the best piece of Banksy's tenure here in NYC. I would've personally not glorified the word 'Ghetto', but that's me and he is Banksy so it is what it is. This is going to get hit hard and fast by taggers, mark my words.

When I saw this I didn't think of it as glorifying "ghetto". I thought it was a clear allusion to people not from a ghetto or poor background (but actually very well off... enough, to have a servant even) claiming ties to a culture they're simply not part of or behaving as such. You could probably replace ghetto and the antithesis (being wealthy enough to have a servant being the antithesis of being from a ghetto), but I think many people have encountered this particular example.
